GroomWell Energizing Soap Bar with Charcoal
A dude writing about cosmetics? Now hold your horses, this ain't no mansplanation! Let's get something straight: I'm a dude who has a skin regimen, and GroomWell Energizing Soap Bar with Charcoal ain't no cosmetic.
I wash my face twice a day: once before shaving in the morning, and again at night before sleeping. The morning wash should leave my skin clean and ready to receive the gentle caress of my Gillette Sensor2 Plus pivoting-head disposable razor - two blades, not three, four is right out! The evening wash is mainly for cleaning (I have oily skin) but not so harsh as to prompt my skin to produce even more oil - a lesson learned over decades! You think it's easy to find a soap that does double-duty and does it well?
Well, I found one: the GroomWell Energizing Soap Bar with Charcoal. I'll be the first to admit I wasn't expecting a whole lot. My impression - maybe it's a guy thing - is that fancy-shmancy cosmetics lure (mostly female) buyers in with flowery words and even more flowery ingredients. Today, ylang-ylang, tomorrow bamboo milk, just pay us and pay us often. Hey, I'm old-school, that's how I was raised and if you don't like it, change my mind. Kudos to Arbonne: my mind has been changed - at least when it comes to this soap.
I chose a couple of GroomWell products to kick off my adventure in affiliate marketing with Arbonne, one was the Energizing Soap Bar with Charcoal. Yep, it's black soap... nope, it won't blackface you 'cuz that shit ain't cool. The product blurb wasn't exactly encouraging (for reasons previously stated) but here it is:
"Every man's vegan grooming routine needs a bar of this supercharged soap! Formulated to deliver soothed skin, purified pores, and a deep-down clean, this charcoal soap for men features moisturizing Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Hematite with antioxidant benefits, and the invigorating scent of Turmeric. Vegan grooming has never felt — or smelled — so good."
Yeah, vegan soap. But I digress... my delivery came on May 1st and I've been using the soap twice daily. It's a big bar (142gm or 5oz) - and after 10 days/20 usages it's STILL big! This is important as you don't want a pricy bar of soap to melt in your hands (but not in your mouth, tho it IS vegan).
Secondly, or maybe co-firstly, it does what I want it to do and it does it well! Smooth shaving in the morning, clean & fresh-feeling skin at night. It has a scent, as the blurb states, but it's a very mild one - this is coming from someone who does NOT like fragrances, at all. And yeah, the "black soap" thing takes me back to the back of comic books and I'm diggin' that nostalgia. Hmm, does Arbonne sell x-ray specs?
