GroomWell Invigorating Cleanser with Micro-Exfoliants

So yeah, I’m a dude with a skin regimen (don’t judge me) and even after all these years, I’m still searching for the tactical (and tactile) tools that any effective regimen requires.

I chose a couple of GroomWell products to jump-start my affiliate marketing partnership with Arbonne: one was the Energizing Soap Bar with Charcoal, the other was their Invigorating Cleanser with Micro-Exfoliants.

I do a facial exfoliant scrub thing once a week, and I’ve tried any number of off-the-shelf exfoliants from St Ives, Aveeno and Cetaphil just to name a few.

I even consulted a cosmetician (the charming and knowledgeable Emilia at our local Shopper’s Drug Mart) who told me the St Ives scrub was a “deep” exfoliant better for feet than faces (who knew?).

Emilia generously plied me with some sampler-sized tubes of Vasanti BrightenUp! Exfoliator, which I liked a lot. I’ve used up the samplers, and a standard tube is kinda pricy.

Since I was starting with Arbonne and needed new scrub, I figured I’d give GroomWell Invigorating Cleanser with Micro-Exfoliants a shot. Check out the product blurb:

"Purify, polish and refine your skin at the same time. Our vegan face cleanser doubles as a face exfoliator thanks to ultra-fine Jojoba-derived granules that help whisk away dirt, oil and dead skin cells.

This hydrating face cleanser is also formulated with Stabilized Vitamin C and Malachite Extract to support healthy-looking skin — and using this vegan face exfoliator regularly can help keep pores clear and prevent ingrown hairs, too!"

So that’s cool and all, I’m not a vegan but I love animals so I’m on-board with that. I’m also glad the scrubbing particles are NOT plastic microbeads – not sure exactly what a “jojoba” is but it’s not plastic so yay. The back of the tube states this product is “gluten-free” (as are all the cool products these days, edible or not), and that the tube itself is “made from post-consumer recycled plastic” so yeah, I’m helping to save the planet with every purchase.

Speaking of the tube, get this… there’s no cap! That’s a good thing – who wants to fumble with slippery caps in the shower? Not me, certainly, though what one does in the privacy of their bathroom is their own business.

Take a close look… the silver part twists so when you squeeze the tube, the scrub comes out of the teeny tiny hole. Twist open, twist close, so easy even a caveman can do it. Or me, as I haven’t really evolved a whole lot and the modern world frightens and confuses me, most especially early in the morning before I’ve had my coffee.

But I digress… as I often do, pre- or post-coffee. I’ve used GroomWell Invigorating Cleanser with Micro-Exfoliants twice (at press time) and I’m really, really pleased! It’s not overly harsh yet I feel “scrubbed”. My skin feels tight but not the unsettling stretched tightness you get with a strong astringent. It leaves a clean and fresh feeling that keeps the oil at bay for most of the day. Not bad for something you take a shot in the dark at; feels like I hit the bullseye on this one!
