Cool Hand, Look

Old & busted: Being caught red-handed. New not-hotness: Being caught blue-handed whilst working a computer in winter.

So it's winter and the north wind's howling outside, icicles grow long on your eaves, and you've forgotten what the colour green even looks like.

You huddle inside your heated home, basking in artificial heat that holds back the seasonal chill and allows life-giving warmth to soothe you from head to toe...

Hey heat, you missed a spot! Yes indeed, computer jockeys, your right hand might be the most active part of your body but perched atop a lump of hard plastic, it's not feeling the love.

Some days, it's not feeling much of anything besides a wintry draft from the nearby window. This complicates the clicking and scrolling required to work a mouse and, umm, work a job. What to do?

A bit of online searching revealed that Heated Mouse Pads were a thing! (So were Heated Mice, but the mouse part seemed subordinate to the heat part and I use my mouse in summer as well as winter.)

Fast-forward a few days and guess what? I no longer suffer from Frigid Mouse Hand Syndrome - FMHS for short. Yes, I overpaid for it - price wasn't bad but add shipping and brokerage and the C/US$ exchange rate and YIKES! - but if it's reasonably durable than it's money well-spent.

I keep it on the Green (lowest) setting... Red will keep your coffee piping hot. It's the perfect complement to my amazing and much-loved Heated Foot Mat! Get yours at HeatedMousePad.com (duh!)
