Peak Teal

Here’s the infamous Craigslist ad that took teal cars out of the shade where they belonged and held them up to the light… kind of the opposite of a classic car “barn find”.

There’s a LOT to unpack in this audacious ad for a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am, and never mind the sketchy spelling (“eminates”? “peice”?) I’m driven to notice because I enjoy eye-twitchiness as much as the next guy.

Let it be noted, however, that the word “teal” is only mentioned ONCE in the entire ad! There it is, in the quote attributed to Every Woman Since the Dawn of 1995: “There are three things I want in a guy: Tall, Dark, and drives a f***ing teal Grand Am." The car’s bilious blue-green paint job speaks for itself.

This ad has earned “Best of Craigslist” laurels for good reason - the original ad was posted on April 25th of 2012. Kudos to owner Joe Strachila of Everett, WA and his childhood friend, Kyle Miller, who crafted this waaaay over-the-top celebration of the ultimate Teal Transport Time Machine. (more details here)
