Meet the One-Color Cat
Yo Yo Yo, mah kittens, there’s a new cat in da ‘hood!
So new, in fact, I don’t even know its name – or whether it’s a he or a she. Therefore, according to my standard cat-naming procedure, I’m dubbing thee the One-Color Cat (because just upstairs lives “Pishi”, the Three-Color Cat).
This cat lives with at least one other – a gorgeous, blue-eyed Himalayan and possibly a third, although they all look somewhat alike from a distance and I’ve only seen two of them up close.
The One-Color Cat might be part-Himalayan… its coat shows some variation between cream and buff, with darker shades on the face and tail, hinting at Point Coloration.
Its eyes are pale blue, though not as deeply tinted as those of a Himalayan.
Although I’ve noticed this cat and its housemates before, today’s video and photos are the first I’ve been able to record. I noticed the cat sitting in its front yard as I was returning home by car: it likes to gaze out over the street traffic from the comfort of its grassy lawn.
I quicky set out to visit it, hoping it would still be traffic-watching, and there it was! It studied me carefully as I went through the usual suite of cat-attracting and feline-settling techniques, then slowly inched over while sniffing first the ground between us, then my outstretched hand.
I must have met its approval as it’s timidity turned to friendliness, and was duly rewarded with a gentle head & neck massage. Stay tuned for updates on the One-Color Cat and, hopefully, its Himalayan housemate!
