PT Bloat
Teal, the choice of a new millennium? This Chrysler PT Cruiser, resplendent in “Seamist Green Metallic”, bravely led a rapidly-narrowing legion of teal automobiles into the 21st century.
The late and unlamented PT Cruiser was supposed to be a Plymouth when it made the motoring scene in April of 2000. The writing was on the wall for Plymouth by then, so the Airflow-influenced auto was born with a Chrysler nameplate and a 2001 date code.
Highland Park squeezed out about 1.35 million PT Cruisers by the time worldwide production ended in 2010… seen any lately?
On the odd chance you do, odds are it won’t be teal – make that Seamist Green Metallic – as the eye-stinging shade was a one-year-only color choice. That helps us narrow the model year of this shimmering sedan down to 2004 and only 2004.
But wait, there’s more! Chrysler offered a “Woodie package” (stop giggling!) on the PT Cruiser from 2002 until 2004.
Simulated wood (actually vinyl) panels on the vehicle’s sides and rear hatch featured linear Medium Oak woodgrain framed with faux moldings in Light Ash.
