Keep On Trackerin’
Nothing screams “NINETIES!” more than a teal & hot pink paint job, and this 1995 Geo Tracker LSi actually manages to pull it off… well, kinda.
Granted, the hot pink plays second banana here, being restricted to a spear along each door and some highlighting of the rugged-looking “TRACKER” graphics.
Why hot pink? Our guess is that someone’s spouse or teen saw a teal & pink pairing somewhere, liked it, and suggested to their designer partner or parent that the younger demographic would think it’s hip and cool.
Once one automaker took the plunge, others were quick to follow… much like lemmings.
Some have said that so-called “complementary” colors appeal to the mind’s eye and while this theory carries some weight, it’s not exactly on-point in this case: check out a color wheel and you’ll see that the opposite to teal (and aqua, cyan, blue-green or what have you) is actually red-orange. Hmm, maybe it’s just as well they went with hot pink.
If teal’s doing most of the heavy lifting here, be grateful: this junkyard 1994 Geo Tracker reverses the color placement and I can’t even. They say “rust never sleeps” but can it hurry the hell up!
But I digress… the featured 1995 Geo Tracker LSi is lookin’ damn snazzy for a vehicle nearly three decades old. Might be that dry Idaho air. As for the authorized color “Tropical Green Metallic”, dey ain’t foolin’ nobody. More like “Tropical grEen metALlic”, amiright? (via cool.craigslist.cars and Row52)
