Voice & Da Hoods
Now here’s a bit of a head-scratcher… or is it? Why is my email provider advising me of voicemail messages?
No, I don’t have a bundled plan with them – if you can’t email me, shouting at your device isn’t going to help matters.
So, it seems these kinds of emails are categorized as “phishing”, in that scammers hope to reel in those who click on their invitations. Those who take the bait, give up personal information.
Besides the obvious incongruity of “my” email provider advising me of un read, er, unheard voice messages, there’s also a notable disconnect between the sender’s apparent origin and their actual address.
Try this at home: move your cursor over the sender, in this case “@ Telnet Communications”, and what should appear but ”knox.c.jessie @ gmail.com”.
Meanwhile, moving the cursor over the “Listen to Voicemail” button reveals the real destination: some sort of accessible-play app. No chance in hell imma clickin’ on that!
