Chic Kiwi Civic
Honda New Zealand maintains a rolling museum that includes a NZ-assembled 1992 Civic three-door resplendent in Tahitian Green Pearl.
This fourth-generation Honda Civic was made in the iteration's final year and it's a bare-bones, black-bumpered 1.3-litre model that's never had a private owner.
Don't expect a museum piece, however: when the source article was published in DRIVEN Car Guide back in February of 2021, the odometer displayed an eye-popping 417,045 km... those are vintage Volvo numbers!
It runs well too, with only routine maintenance required: the oil, tires, brake pads/discs and light bulbs have been replaced over its three-decade lifetime.
Something to be proud of, certainly... but of all the Honda Civics the company could have chosen to save, why did it have to be a teal, er, "Tahitian Green Pearl" (paint code BG28P) one?
Did they consciously choose a car representing its times, or were the odds of snatching a teal vehicle off the production line just too high? Why not both?
We'd be remiss in not mentioning the nearly pristine interior, featuring seats wrapped in a grey tweed-like fabric subtly highlighted with teal threads. The solid teal stripe across the seat cushions is just chef's kiss!
