Rotten Apple

Well, this is distressing: Apple declined my payment. It would be even more distressing if I had an Apple account.

That said, it was nice of the good folks at Apple to notify me of the situation and I feel I owe them thanks for reaching out – albeit in error, as I’ve mentioned that I don’t have an account with them.

A simple email reply ought to do it and… wait a minute, moving my cursor over the “From” addy shows that instead of “Apple” this email was sent by “Precious Makhana” of Vodadealers in South Africa (country code “za”).

Well, isn’t that precious!

My cursor wasn’t done yet, either. Moving down to the blue “Update Now” button tells me that instead of Apple Inc in good ol’ Cupertino CA, I’d be taken to “bemilnigeria.com”.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t think anyone wants to be taken to anything-nigeria even if they happen to know the local prince… and if you weren’t yet aware, EVERYONE there is the local prince.
